Bio
Jennifer Anne Scott is a Partner at Herum Crabtree. Her practice involves the representation of individuals and corporations in a broad range of general civil and complex commercial litigations, including products liability and antitrust class actions. Ms. Scott specializes in trademark prosecution, trademark counseling, unfair competition; trade secret litigation, environmental liability counseling and environmental litigation.
Ms. Scott has prosecuted claims involving both registered trademarks and service marks. Ms. Scott has experience in all of the typical forums for resolving these types of disputes, including state and federal courts, the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and in a variety of alternative dispute resolution settings. In addition, Ms. Scott frequently advises and assists private business, associations and individuals seeking to register a trademark. Ms. Scott has registered numerous wine labels, product logos and proprietary names on behalf of major wineries, corporations and developers.
In the trade secret field, Ms. Scott has defended a number of clients in misappropriation of trade secret and unfair competition cases both in state and federal courts. Ms. Scott is experienced in handling cases involving trade secrets of both a technical nature (such as computer programs) and non-technical nature (such as business, marketing and financial information and customer lists).
Ms. Scott also has extensive environmental litigation experience in both state and federal court. She has represented dairies and other agribusiness clients in air and water quality cases involving nuisance, administrative agency compliance, the Federal Clean Water Act, California's Porter Cologne Water Quality Act, Federal RCRA, Federal Clean Air Act, California Clean Air Act and California Health and Safety code.
Ms. Scott is admitted to practice in and before all courts in the State of California. She was admitted to the California State bar in 1999. She is also admitted to practice in the United States District Court, Northern District of California; the United States District Court, Eastern District of California; the United States District Court of Colorado.
Ms. Scott was born Redwood City, California and relocated to the Central Valley in 1995, where she currently resides with her husband, daughter and son.
Ms. Scott attended the University of California, Davis and received a Bachelor's of Science degree in Environmental Policy Analysis and Planning in 1995. She graduated as an “Outstanding Senior” for the Class of 1995. While at UC Davis, Ms. Scott published an International Treaty Analysis Webpage regarding the International Whaling Commission.
She received her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in 1999. Ms. Scott is a member of the Roger F. Traynor Honor Society and recipient of the McGeorge Scholar Award. Ms. Scott received an American Jurisprudence Award in Alternative Dispute Resolution. From 1997-1998, she served as Staff Writer for The Transnational Lawyer and from 1998-1999 she served as Associate Comment Editor. While at McGeorge, Ms. Scott was an intern at the United States Department of Justice, Environmental Natural Resources Division in Sacramento, California.
Ms. Scott has achieved the NITA Advocate designation. This designation is awarded to a person who has taken a well-rounded set of courses that proves she is serious about trial advocacy. Ms. Scott is a graduate of the National Institute of Trial Advocacy’s Deposition Skills, Persuasive Writing, and Advanced Trial Advocacy courses.
